CHIANG RAI REHAB

Chiang Rai Rehab options Is It Worth Putting on Top of Your List?

A relatively small, out-of-the-way city in the far north of Thailand, Chiang Rai has all the visual and cultural attractions of the better-known tourist areas of the country – but without the big crowds. Life in the north moves fairly slowly, particularly in the countryside, making Chiang Rai a rehab destination worth putting near the top of your list.
With good transport links including an international airport and easy access to both the Lao and Myanmar borders, Chiang Rai nevertheless maintains the traditional character of a city that sees few foreign visitors. The city itself is home to just 200,000 residents, and has consistently warm days and cool evenings. A significant part of the population is made up of ethnic minorities from hill tribes, such as the Hmong, Karen, Lisu, Miao, and Akha peoples.
Beyond the city, Chiang Rai province is mostly rural and contains more than its share of natural and cultural highlights. Visits to a tea plantation, elephant sanctuary, architecturally striking religious sites like the White Temple, Blue Temple, and many fascinating wats, can all be arranged as part of – or in addition to – an inpatient stay at a Chiang Rai rehab centre.

Description:

Previously located in Samui, Siam Rehab has moved through several locations in Thailand before finding its current home in Chiang Rai. Set on 30 acres of land and gardens, Siam Rehab makes the largest treatment facility in Thailand, so you can be sure to find yourself a quiet, peaceful spot where you can relax and reflect on your journey to recovery.

The facility is located in the most Northerly province in Thailand and provides what can be termed basic Thai style accommodation but in great surroundings and with excellent sporting facilities including a gym, swimming poll, boxing ring and outdoor court.

They don’t provide inpatient detox treatment at the centre so you would have to detox offsite prior to arrival. Siam Rehab also provides the only equine therapy programme available in Thailand with a partner ranch in Chiang Rai.

Description:

New Life Foundation was set up in 2010 by a Dutch entrepreneur who had attended the Thamkrabok monastery rehab for his addiction and wanted to set up an affordable rehab programme for personal growth, as well as addiction. Its philosophy focuses on the practice of meditation and this forms the backbone of treatment. It is more suited to those who have completed a primary programme and achieved a time of abstinence, and for those who have an interest in Buddhism and mindfulness.

New Life Foundation is located on spacious grounds in Chiang Rai, Thailand’s most Northern province. This really allows you to get away from your environment and temptations. The remoteness from medical facilities is less of a problem here because they take clients who are more stable than a traditional rehab facility so the requirements for supervised detoxification and mental health care are much less.

The fees are very affordable so if you have a requirement for long term secondary treatment then this rehab in Chiang Rai could be a good option.

Why seek drug and alcohol treatment in Chiang Rai

These local and regional highlights are a major reason why many people choose Chiang Rai as a rehab destination. Scheduled excursions are often included in rehab programmes, letting you make the most of your stay by participating in outdoor activities or nature trips. The peaceful and laid-back vibe of the area – particularly the regions outside the city centre – can act as a balm to make the rehab and recovery experience far easier to manage.
With fewer tourists than other key parts of Thailand, even the most spectacular areas feel less commercialised than they might be if they were in another location. Part of the friendly atmosphere of Chiang Rai comes from the warm and hospitable nature of the local population, who are genuinely pleased to meet and interact with visitors from other parts of the world. Such a positive spirit can only have beneficial effects on your experience at a Chiang Rai rehab centre.

Getting to Chiang Rai

Chiang Rai International Airport is smaller than many other airports around the country, and so direct international flights are only available if arriving from some cities in China (including Hong Kong). Frequent domestic flights connect Chiang Rai with other cities in Thailand, however – notably Bangkok, with a flight time of roughly 1.5 hours. As Bangkok is one of Asia’s main travel hubs, and highly connected to other parts of the world, travellers can arrive in Bangkok and book a connecting flight to Chiang Rai. Rehab centres will be happy to arrange an airport pickup for your arrival.
