dara rehab reviews koh chang, thailand

review SUMMARY

Dara Rehab is one of the oldest drug and alcohol rehab facilities in Thailand and was originally called Channah. It is now under new management and ownership and is part of the group that also owns Lanna Rehab.

The facility consists of shared and individual luxury villas on a cliffside location on the island of Koh Chang, in the province of Trat. Whilst you do get an oceanside setting, the location is rather remote and involves a full day’s journey from Bangkok via car and ferry. The remoteness of the location makes rehab in Koh Chang the ultimate island escape and really getting you away from your everyday life. However, it can be difficult to receive emergency medical care in the event of a mental health issue or unforeseeable event.

Dara Rehab is one of a few treatment centres in Thailand that doesn’t follow the 12 Step philosophy, but has an approach they call DARA’s “Integrated Cognitive-Behaviour Treatment (ICBT) Model”. This utilises a variety of clinical interventions designed to produce positive outcomes. Counsellors are expected to have experience and expertise in each of these modalities. However, as there are over 10 treatment modalities, it is very difficult to imagine any one person has experience and expertise in more than a few.

All rehabs claim they are the best. But what does that entail really? The best rehab for you might not be for someone else. We think the best rehab should be the one that can help you overcome your addictive behaviors and maintain sobriety in the long run. The cost of a rehab centre should not be your only consideration.
