Bangkok Sober House Bangkok, Thailand

Bangkok Sober House Review

Bangkok Sober House, as the name suggests, provides a sober living programme for those clients looking for a step-down facility from inpatient treatment in Bangkok. They offer eight bedrooms in a lovely renovated shophouse away from the hustle and bustle of central Bangkok.

The Facility

Although their rooms are not luxurious or spacious as you would get in some other rehab centres in Thailand, you’ll find them clean and equipped with all the amenities to make your stay comfortable. Their bedrooms also feature large windows and a lot of natural light. Onsite facilities are limited, but clients can enjoy membership to a local gym and pool facility located in a nearby area.

There is a daily maid service at Bangkok Sober House to ensure that clients have time to focus on recovery and personal growth. From laundry to daily room cleaning, they will do housekeeping chores for you so that you can invest your time in fitness, wellness, and personal transformation.

Also, clients can enjoy healthy, nutritious meals prepared by a private chef. The programme provides three healthy meals a day. Nutrition is an integral part of the recovery programme, so you can expect to learn a lot about healthy food choices during your stay at Bangkok Sober House.

The Treatment

Their treatment programme has a strong holistic approach which includes elements such as diet and nutrition, counselling, physical body strength, spiritual enlightenment, education on human health, and understanding of personal relationships.

In addition to these elements, the all-female team puts a very strong emphasis on auricular acupuncture with all team members practising the art. This involves putting five tiny little needles in each ear, and there is some evidence that this does help to ease cravings. They believe that acupuncture is the key to their programme’s success.

Within the programme, clients have access to daily counselling, daily acupuncture and daily massage alongside regular Qi Gong practice.

The Team

The founder of Bangkok Sober House practised as a psychologist for eight years before she discovered acupuncture. Now, 20 years later, she combines her knowledge and experience in these two fields to help clients who are recovering from substance abuse. Each member of the team has also been trained in acupuncture in Thailand, and now use their knowledge to help clients combat addiction.

Their focus on auricular acupuncture is definitely something that makes Bangkok Sober House unique. We suggest that this type of facility would work for certain clients very well but wouldn’t be a fit for all.
